Robin’s doors are my bridges
Much as we travel, keen to see new views, countires and cultures, there seem to be certain subjects we are always drawn to and can#t resist taking picrures of. Which brings oone of my favorite travel bloggers, Robin Graham of a lot of wind to mind, who just loves, loves, loves his doors and windows. Others may like flowers, animals, lakes, graffiti and my pet subject are bridges. Bridges have great symbolic value too. You can cross bridges, build bridges, mend bridges or burn bridges. They provide endless inspiration.
They conjure up in my mind stories of all the people who might have crossed over them, often during centuries, visions of one end leading to another and often just astonishing architectural achievements, In short, I find a bridge, I take a pictures.
Here is a selection of the bridges I have visited and often crossed.
Tower Bridge London
Bridge in Pontedeume/Galicia/Spain
7 miles bridge/Florida Keys
Rialto Bridge/Venice/Italy
Galata Bridge/Istanbul/Turkey
Hasankeyf/Turkey
And two I haven’t seen yet but which are high up on my agenda:
Golden Gate Bridge/San Francisco
Brooklyn Bridge/New York
What is your preferred subject?

this is great. i used to shoot a lot of very interesting doors and windows. maybe, i should try to revive it. it’s great that you take picture of bridges.
I like bridges, too. Nice selection that you’ve chosen to show here. Tower Bridge is definitely one of my favorites. I think you’re going to love the Golden Gate & Brooklyn bridges when you see them — I know I do.
I have actually seen the Brooklyn Bridge, but it was in January and the friend I was with absolutely refused to walk across. I just loved that bridge.
The Golden Gate is pretty amazing, and I’ve been to SF lots of times. I also like the little covered bridges in New England, which evoke a nostalgic look back in time.
I agree with you Inka, bridges are great! I really find them picturesque. You need to walk across both the Brooklyn Bridge and Golden Gate. You won’t be disappointed.
Looking forward to both. Soon I’ll have the chance.
Some people have a ‘gap year’, maybe I’ll make 2012 my ‘bridge year’.
Lovely! Malaysia has some interesting bridges too. One day I should go around photographing them as well.
I love bridges too! I always take photos of bridges, doors, and windows
Ah, I love the Rialto and tower bridge too. The blue in the tower bridge has always really caught my eye- so unique.
We all have our interests! I get it about bridges – they are powerful structures and usually come with stories.
